Preconception Health is a 1.5 hour training for health workers in the community. You will explore ways that women's health before they are pregnant affects their risk for complications and infant death, and practice counseling a woman to make a life plan.
Life planning involves setting your goals! Education, work, family life, and having children are all part of a life plan. By completing one yourself, and discussing how to introduce the plan to program participants, you will be prepared to help women in your community develop a life plan.
There are no pre-requisites!
The purpose of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Training Program is to strengthen the capacity of the rural public health work force to meet the diverse needs of MCH populations via accessible and customized public health education and training. The program is designed to enhance the core public health practice with an explicit focus on an MCH-specific professional identity.
The Texas Public Health Training Center (TPHTC) is a training resource for current and future public health workers in the State of Texas. Through a partnership with the Texas A&M University School of Public Health, the University of North Texas School of Public Health, and The University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) School of Public Health, we collaborate with community organizations, and health care delivery systems to provide competency-based training and education for the public health workforce.

Yes, this training is approved as a 1.5 hour CEU by the Department of State Health Services in Texas (DSHS) for Community Health Workers (CHW).
Yes! Please email mch@uth.tmc.edu and ask for a certificate of completion for Community Engagement. They will check to ensure you passed the course with a grade of 80% or more, and then provide a certificate via email.Can I receive a certificate of completion?
