Welcome to this course on Cultural Competence and Community Engagement

This course is designed for community health workers serving diverse populations. Cultural Competence and Community Engagement are the basis of any intervention at the community level. Eliminating health disparities for minorities could reduce direct medical care costs by billions of dollars and reduce indirect costs associated with illness and premature death. Through this course, community health workers and healthcare professionals will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the functioning of unique and culturally rich communities and serve them better.

This training will help you develop a broader skill set to ensure better health for all members of our community. These training topics play a big role in a community setting and our guest speakers, community organizers serving in the field, have some interesting insights to give on this subject.

Design an approach to increase cultural competency in a community setting

Justify the role of cultural competence in community engagement

MCH Training Program

Yes. It counts for 1.5 credit hours.

Can I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes! Please email mch@uth.tmc.edu and ask for a certificate of completion for Community Engagement. They will check to ensure you passed the course with a grade of 80% or more, and then provide a certificate via email.
