About This Course

This course is designed to equip students with skills to professionally promote and enhance the health of women, children, and their communities. The 3 Units consist of: The Ecological Model, Creating a Logic Model, Evidence-Based Program Planning.

The course is designed with videos, brief text, and interactive comprehension questions followed by activities that would be typical in a professional setting. For example, a module about evidence based planning involves finding evidence based programs and developing a logic model with an evidence based approach. Each exercise is intended to help you reflect on your experience and further develop essential skills that will help you promote health in the community.

You will build up an evidence-based program program plan through each activity of the course, ending in a "Capstone Activity." Throughout the course, you can use the discussion board to post progress on your project and discuss ideas with fellow students.

The purpose of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Training Program is to strengthen the capacity of the public health work force to meet the diverse needs of MCH populations via accessible and customized public health education and training. The program is designed to enhance the core public health practice with an explicit focus on an MCH-specific professional identity.
