About Data Ethics

This course will examine and investigate data governance issues and why data governance is important to data science and data analyticsby the way of current events and articles on data ethics. Identify concerns around data collection, personal privacy issues, liability issues, ethical constraints, and bias that impact data analysis. Examine the ethical issues around compliance when it comes to using data for making decisions.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify how global legal, policy and/or ethical constraints might impact data analyses*
  • Identify the established ethical and legal issues in data management facing organizations*
  • Explain how ethical, compliance and legal issues should/must be considered in data-driven decision making*
  • Demonstrate awareness of personal privacy issues related to the collection and usage of data*
  • Explain the important issues around data governance*
  • Recognize potential sources of bias in data or analysis*
