edX-Course "Biospecimen Research Methods (GBN version)"

The online course "Biospecimen Research Methods (GBN version)" on the edX Edge learning platform provides a comprehensive overview of biobanking. The programme is aimed at staff from all areas of a biobank work and anyone interested in an introduction to biobanking. Since 2020, the German Biobank Node (GBN) offers the online course to all partner and observer biobanks of the German Biobank Alliance (GBA).

The course content is based on the Canadian edX course “Biospecimen Research Methods”, which was developed by the Office of Biobank Education and Research (OBER) at the University of British Columbia (Canada) under the direction of Prof Peter Watson. “Biospecimen Research Methods” was translated by GBN and GBA staff and its content adapted to the circumstances and legal situation in Germany.
